About CrossFit East Tamaki

CrossFit East Tamaki is one of the largest facilities in New Zealand located in Body Business The Gym. This means when you are a full member of CrossFit East Tamaki you can have full access to the gym facilities outside of the class schedule.
CrossFit East Tamaki is run by Coaches Callum Gifford and Zak Nothling both with
international sporting history and extensive fitness industry experience (combined over 15 Years)
Callum and Zak are dedicated to providing top level coaching and athletic development for all levels of fitness and abilities. This is achieved though maintaining a coach to athlete ratio of approximately 1:6.
About The Coaches
Callum Gifford
Callum has been training with CrossFit methodology for 2 years and has been competing at events for the same amount of time. Last year he placed 51st in the Australasian region in the Crossfit games open and finished 18th in the regional level Schwartz Crossfit Melbourne challenge. He is very passionate about improving as both an athlete and as a top level coach.
Previously he has represented New Zealand in both BMX racing and Rugby, so he knows the type of attitude needed to make it to the make it to the top and how to get other people to follow. His coaching methods may be somewhat unorthodox, but he cares about his members and their goals. Callum is responsible for all of the programming at CrossFit East Tamaki and also does online programming for those looking to further their CrossFit abilities.

Corrin Hanett
A former Counties Manukau competitive swimmer Corrin knows what it is like to dedicate time and passion to a given sport. 6 mornings, 5 nights for 9 years, it’s only natural that she followed into a career path in the sport and recreation industry. Including previous experience as a swim coach, learn to swim instructor, Bootcamp instructor, Fitness Instructor & now working as a full time Personal Trainer.
Corrin is an assistant coach here at Crossfit East Tamaki and takes our Introduction to crossfit programme. “I love taking our intro class here, as I get to do one of the most important jobs which is introduce new people to the Crossfit world and ensure their experience is a fun, safe and enjoyable one. I get to meet so many different people ranging from athletes, mums, businessmen and even grandparents and that’s the best thing! There is always an option to suit everyone”.
Corrin has been coaching with Crossfit East Tamaki for the past 6 months and is very passionate about “learning more from Callum & Zak as coaches and athletes” and helping people to achieve their goals.
Corrin has been training with the CrossFit methodology for 1 year and has been competing at events for the last 6months. Having competed in a few scaled competitions her goal this year is to compete in the RX division at competitions, train hard for the open and improve her advanced gymnastics skills.
Zak Nothling
Zak has an extensive national and international Ice hockey career dating back to 2003 as one of the youngest players to ever represent New Zealand. One of the most successful players in New Zealand Ice Hockey history, Zak has helped his provincial team claim 4 National League Championships achieving numerous individual awards in the process - both domestically and on the international stage. Between seasons he has spent time abroad playing for HC SOKAL in Kiev, Ukraine in the Eastern European Hockey League.
First exposed to the fitness industry through Ice Hockey, Zak began personal training and bootcamp style training in early 2005. From personal training in the family business, his role grew to a general management position is now the sole owner of Body Business Gym in East Tamaki. In 2012 Zak discovered the Crossfit methodology. Coach Z quickly developed an affinity for Olympic lifting which rapidly turned into an obsession. He started competing on the New Zealand CrossFit stage at various local competitions throughout 2013 after he retired from Ice Hockey.
During his sports career Zak has been exposed to a wide variety of coaching methods and strength and conditioning programs. In addition his lengthy personal training experience has instilled an awareness of individual client’s needs and an attention to detail. Zak uses his extensive experience to provide a high level of coaching in every CrossFit class. He has patience working with new athletes but also the ability to get more out of the most experienced athlete.
Zak also currently works as a Strength & Conditioning Coach for the New Zealand Men’s Ice Hockey team, The Botany Swarm NZIHL Ice hockey team and The Howick Hornets Premier rugby League team.
